Overview of Mission That Villa Heights Christian Church Supports

AMERICAN REHABILITATION MINISTRIES, Joe Garman

American Rehabilitation Ministries is an ARM of the church to bring the good news of salvation to those in prison. ARM began ministering to US prisoners in May of 1973 when America’s prison population was only 234,000, where it had hovered since the 1940s. Today, ARM ministers to more than 1.2 million people who are incarcerated in America’s 1500 state and federal prisons, and an additional half-million inmates who occupy our nation’s 3200 jails.

GOOD NEWS PRODUCTIONS, INTERNATIONAL

“To fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea: Good News Productions, International will partner with His Church to accelerate global evangelism.” Habakkuk 2:14

GNPI was formed to accelerate global evangelism through the use of media. The call to tell the world has not changed, but the way in which we carry the message to the ends of the earth has. Media has changed the way the gospel is being shared throughout the world. By equipping missionaries and the local church with relevant and culturally appropriate strategies and media, we can tell the story effectively and help win more to Christ.

LITERATURE AND TEACHING MINISTRIES (LATM)

LATM was established in August 1992 to put Christian books into the hands of church leaders all over the world in their own languages. They do whatever it takes to guide these books through the publishing process, from translation to proofreading to formatting to printing. LATM's main job is to help provide funds for these book projects by partnering with churches and individuals in the United States.

There is an abundance of books in English in the U. S., but in most countries, books are a rarity. A church leader who has even a handful of books in his own language is fortunate. Most church leaders would love to get their hands on good books in their native tongue, but in most cases, they simply do not exist!

SERVANTS OF CHRIST, BRAZIL, Rodney & Ann Anderson

Rodney and Ann Anderson have been missionaries in Brazil since October 1993. They live in Araguaina, a city of 160,000.  Araguaina offers Rodney and Ann an ideal first-term situation. There is a strong church in existence with a Brazilian evangelist, a 30-year veteran missionary family, and a new house church being started on the other side of town. The combination of strong church and new church allows Rodney and Ann to learn from the successes of the past and gain experience in church planting.

In the larger existing church Rodney is in charge of care groups and training their leaders. Ann is in charge of music. In the new house church, Rodney is busy with calling and evangelism, preaching at times, and serving as a resource person for Lacerda, The Brazilian who began the church. Rodney and Ann hope to continue aiding the Brazilians as they plant new churches in

unevangelized areas.
